BEVERLY, MA — The Greater Beverly YMCA was one of two organizations nationwide to receive a $25,000 grant from the MassMutual Foundation as part of its Community Service Award program. The grant was in honor of the volunteer efforts of Greg Maehl, a MassMutual financial professional with Baystate Financial in Wakefield, and former YMCA Board president. The Greater Beverly YMCA was one of 32 organizations nationwide to receive a grant this year and one of only two to receive the top $25,000 amount. The awards are given in honor of financial professionals who demonstrate outstanding commitment to nonprofit organizations in their local communities. "We are stronger when we come together as a community; our Community Service Awards program recognizes MassMutual financial professionals who embody this spirit, working with members of their respective neighborhoods, towns, and cities, helping nonprofits with which they are involved grow and thrive," said Dennis Duquette, head of MassMutual Community Responsibility and President of the MassMutual Foundation. "We are proud of the time and energy Greg Meahl dedicates to better the community and are delighted to support his great work." Maehl was vice president of the Greater Beverly YMCA from 2014 to 2016, and president from 2016 to 2018. He also chaired the annual campaign for nine years, helping to secure $1.5 million to help the YMCA's expansion. "We are so grateful for all Greg has done for the Y and the Beverly community through his volunteerism, board leadership and overall commitment to our mission," said Chris Lovasco, President and CEO of the YMCA of the North Shore. "He is a wonderful example of what it means to give back to your community. It is fitting that Greg received this Community Service Award from MassMutual." Did you find this article useful?
