Position Summary: The primary focus of the Lansing Building Products warehouse Associate is customer service. This includes picking and loading orders for customers, loading delivery trucks and taking customer returns. Keeping the warehouse clean and orderly enhances this service. Duties and Responsibilities: • Promptly greeting the customers when they arrive at the dock and picking tickets on a timely basis. It is the warehouse Associates responsibility to acknowledge the customers immediately and let them know their ticket will be picked as soon as possible. • Assisting the customer in loading the order on the truck after it has been picked. If there are any problems with the order, the warehouse Associate should accompany the customer into the office and make sure the problem is handled promptly. • Loading and unloading Ted Lansing delivery trucks, common carriers and all other deliveries to the warehouse. Ensuring the accuracy of these loads by counting all material and noting counts on the applicable packing slip. • Checking all orders for accuracy by someone independent of the person loading the order before the order leaves the branch. No inventory should leave the warehouse without a computer ticket or a hand ticket. • Keeping the warehouse clean, neat and safe. All incoming materials and customer returns should be restocked in the designated area the day they are received. • Receiving customer returns at the dock and completing the return slips. • Operating company vehicles and equipment safely at all times. • Properly rotating stock so that inventory moves on a first in/first out basis. • Interacting with customers to determine opportunities or possible problems. Warehouse Associates should act as problem solvers and make suggestions to supervisors as necessary. • Working together with other warehouse Associates to accomplish branch goals. • Performs other duties as directed by the warehouse manager as required • Time frame for work: o 7:30 – 4:30 unless otherwise directed by your supervisor • Valued but not required skills and experience: o Prior industry experience • Reporting to this position: o No direct reports OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES o Proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment o Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships o Ability to prioritize tasks and work quickly and efficiently PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
