DANBURY, CT — Uncle Sam's already spoken for, but you still have the opportunity to own your own piece of Danbury Fair history. Twenty truckloads of memorabilia pulled out of the city in October 1981 when the Danbury Fair and Racearena shuttered, making way for today's mall. Most of that ended up at Magic Forest theme park in Lake George, NY. Now, a sizable chunk of that treasure trove is being auctioned off. Pixies, pirates, Indians, cannibals and hundreds of other huge figures which dotted the fairgrounds are on the auction block. None are quite so large, or with quite so much history, as Uncle Sam, returned to Danbury with much fanfare two years ago. The 38-foot icon now stands outside the Danbury Railway Museum. The auction, managed by Collar City Auctions Realty & Management, runs through Oct. 1. You have until then to grab some Danbury Fair history.
