HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The first day of school for students in Harford County Public Schools is Wednesday, Sept. 8. Bel Air Mayor Amy G. Chmielewski encouraged people to be aware that there will be more traffic in town. "Streets will be full, and parents will be out," Chmielewski said at the Bel Air Town Hall meeting Tuesday night. Several businesses downtown will be opening early, she added, offering specials to parents in honor of the first day of the 2021–2022 academic year. Black Eyed Suzie's in Bel Air will open at 9 a.m., which is two hours early. The change comes "at the request of a few excited Moms, for a little breakfast and cocktails" according to Black Eyed Suzie's. "Nothing too crazy, just a little celebratory gathering! Best of luck to all you parents getting you[r] kiddos ready to go, and teachers/administrators who do an amazing job with all those kiddos!"Farmhouse on Main has partnered with Newberry Cafe and Boutique 44 to host "Mom's Morning Out.
