Artist Talk on the Jonesville Mural
Notably, representatives of the Kentucky Museum, African American Museum of Bowling Green, and Kentucky Folklife Program will provide information about the upcoming Jonesville Memory Project, a collaboration to document the story of Jonesville, its residents, and their descendants. In partnership with the Kentucky Arts Council, the project will train reprsentatives of Bowling Green's African American community as certified Community Scholars. During the certification process, Scholars will undertake a course project that documents Jonesville's history through oral interviews, video recordings, and collection of documents and photographs. Led by guest curator Maxine Ray, the project team will also create an exhibition and publicly accessible collection that promote awareness and understanding of Jonesville and its place in our individual, regional, and national histories. Currently seeking grant funding and sponsors, the project hopes to begin in February 2022.
The Jonesville Artist Talk begins at 5 p.m. with artist remarks at 5:30 p.m. in the Kentucky Museum lobby.
