AUSTIN, TX — Funeral services have been set this week for Austin Police Officer Sgt. Steve Urias who died of COVID-19 complications on Aug. 26. His death was the second virus related for the department.
A public visitation will be available from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at Hill Country Bible Church, 12124 Ranch Rd. 620 N, in Austin. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the same church.
Austin police will livestream the services starting at 9:45 a.m., officials said.

Police Honors will follow the service in front of Hill Country Baptist Church. There will not be a procession, officials said.
Urias began the 77th Academy Class on June 5, 1989 and served with APD for 32 years. The officer worked in a variety of assignments including Charlie Sector, Arrest Review, Parks and Adam Sector. Authorities said Urias was near retirement when he contracted COVID-19.
