***You must be fully vaccinated for this job*** The primary purpose is to perform the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping department, and to assure the community is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. A knowledge of household and industrial laundry equipment is necessary in order to maintain cleanliness of all areas. The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with established company policy and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or GED preferred Job Knowledge: One-year experience in a senior residence community preferred Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; follow instructions; deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and visitors; properly use supplies and maintain equipment; maintain appearance of housekeeping areas in a safe, clean, and comfortable manner; work harmoniously with other personnel; possess ability to seek new methods and principles, and be willing to incorporate them into housekeeping practices; able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instruction, etc. Knowledge and ability to use household and industrial washers and dryers. Knowledge of commercial laundry processes, equipment, and procedures for washing. Health Department Standards FUNCTIONS: • Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments and established housekeeping procedures • Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner • Follow established infection control practices when performing housekeeping measures • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies • Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures • Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing. • Vacuum carpets. • Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions • Discard waste/trash properly and reline trash receptacles with plastic liner • Report all hazardous conditions or equipment • Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored at all times, including before leaving such areas for breaks, mealtimes, and end of the workday. • Assure that an adequate inventory or housekeeping supplies is maintained. • Report burned out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescents lights, etc., to the supervisor or maintenance director as soon as practical • Assure that work/cleaning procedures schedules are followed as closely as practical • Follow established fire-safety policies and procedures • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc. as directed or requested • Report all accidents/incidents to the supervisor • Maintain the confidentiality of resident information • Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc. as necessary and directed • Turn in all found articles to the supervisor • Wear gloves as necessary when handling dirty linens. Wash hands after contact with any soiled linen. • Be willing to perform routine tasks on a continuous basis and keep up with the flow of work • Clean laundry area and equipment • Maintain inventory laundry supplies • Remove lint from tumbler and keep tumbler clean in dryers • Use only the amount of detergent required since this will help maintain a low suds level • Attend departmental and staff meetings • Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects, such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc. PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Walking 3 hours per shift • Standing 4-5 hours per shift while cleaning and doing laundry • Lifting 1-20# frequently, 21-35# occasionally, 36-70# rarely • Pushing 1-20# frequently, 21-35# occasionally, 36-70# rarely • Pulling 1-20# frequently, 21-35# occasionally, 36-70# rarely • Bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling, crawling and climbing • Use of large and small laundry & housekeeping equipment WORK AREA AND ENVIRONMENT laundry rooms, common areas and throughout community COVID-19 considerations: We remain covid free.
