Man Convicted Of Child Sex Abuse To Remain Free Until Sentencing

PLAINFIELD, IL — A 47-year-old Plainfield man was found guilty by a Kane County judge Wednesday for sexually abusing a child younger than 13 years old. Anastasio Rodriguez, of the 5300 block of Whisper Meadow Court, sexually abused a young girl he knew in December 2011, according to Kane County Assistant State's Attorneys Stacey Wittman and Jessica Michels. "The victim in this case showed courage in testifying against her abuser about a crime that occurred nearly 10 years ago," Wittman said in a statement. Kane County Judge Donald M. Tegeler Jr. presided over the case. Rodriguez will remain free on a $10,000 bond until he is sentenced. He's either three to seven years in prison or probation, according to officials. He will also have to register for life as a sex offender in accordance with Illinois law. His next court appearance for motions and sentencing is set for Nov. 5 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
