District 308 Looks To Hire School Nurse, Bus Driver

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego School District 308 announced a few new position openings in the district. Among the roles are school nurse, bus monitor, special education building substitute and recess supervisor. The compensation for each position varies. A school nurse will make $23.50 to $24.73 an hour, depending on licensure levels, as well as benefits. A bus driver will make between $18.36 to $19.38 an hour, depending on experience and permits, while a bus monitor will make an hourly wage of $12.24 to $12.76 that's dependent on experience. Salaries for these positions include a mandatory 4.5 percent retirement contribution to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, officials said in a Facebook post. The special education building substitute will be paid $150 a day working 107 days this school year, while a recess supervisor — who will work from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on school days — will make $11.25 an hour. Both positions don't have benefits listed in the job postings. Bus monitors and recess supervisors must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or the equivalent of one. According to the listings from the district on Facebook, the special education building substitute and recess supervisors will undergo background checks. Below is a list of responsibilities for each position as detailed in the postings. Special Education Building Substitute Provide individualized instruction to students with disabilities in the absence of the assigned teacher.Provide consultation to staff during team meetings and common planning times in the absence of the assigned teacher. Submit records, reports, and assignments promptly and efficiently. Work cooperatively with staff to accomplish students' IEP goals and benchmarks.Manage a caseload of students with disabilities.Provide input for student problem-solving. Consult with classroom teachers and other providers of caseload students.Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information.Monitor student progress per regular schedule using the identified tools. Consult with teachers and other appropriate staff regarding the student's performance in the classroom. Participate in activities that promote professional development. Support and implement district policies and procedures, regulations, and administrative directives. Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession, and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing special education. School Bus Monitor Assist bus driver with the safety, movement, management and care of students.Learn and adapt to each student's medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs.Serve as a role model demonstrating a positive attitude and self-control. Protect the confidentiality of student records and information. Responsible to secure students who use child safety restraint systems. Serve as a crossing guard as needed. Recess Supervisor Be aware of and implement all site playground rules and regulations.Supervise and monitor students during assigned playground supervision periods.Utilize appropriate disciplinary procedures and techniques in accordance with the school site discipline plan.Be aware of and enforce school safety standards at all times. Report any unsafe playground conditions, including equipment, to an administrator immediately. Alert an administrator to any problem or special information about an individual student.Maintain satisfactory attendance. School Nurse To provide adequate health care, using prudent nursing judgment, under the direction of the certified school nurse. To ensure proper communication with the principal and certified school nurse regarding student illness and injuries to which they have attended. To assist in creating a climate of health and well-being in the district.
