MANCHESTER, NH — A motorcyclist died Wednesday morning after a crash in Manchester, state troopers say.
Manchester Fire, AMR, and New Hampshire State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 93 North in Manchester on Wednesday.
Responders located the accident at about 5:40 a.m. at mile marker 19.6, just prior to the Exit 6 Candia Road off-ramp.
Troopers investigating the crash said initial reports from witnesses advised that a motorcycle had struck the rear end of a box truck. It was determined that a 2006 Yamaha V-Star had cut across several travel lanes and struck the rear end of a box truck.
The motorcycle then collided with the guardrail in the right breakdown lane where the operator was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. The motorcycle then crossed all lanes under its own momentum, coming to final rest in the center median. The operator of the motorcycle was identified as Sean MacDonald, 28 of Manchester.
State police identified the driver of the box truck as Cody Hannaford, 26 of Alton. Hannaford was not injured in the crash. The box truck had minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene.
The right travel lane remained closed for approximately two hours while State Police personnel processed the scene.
Assisting New Hampshire State Police Troop B were members of Troop G, Commercial Vehicle Unit, members of the Manchester Fire Department, AMR ambulance, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
All aspects of the crash are under investigation. Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is encouraged to contact Trooper Henry Gula at the New Hampshire State Police – Troop B Barracks at 603-227-2175 or by email at [email protected].
