JOLIET, IL — A 32-year-old Joliet man who lives in the 1100 block of Plainfield Road was arrested early Wednesday morning by Joliet police after officers say they found a loaded gun inside his car. Richard Aguilar is also accused of throwing a bag of marijuana out the window prior to being pulled over by officers around 2:50 a.m. for a traffic violation, the agency said. Aguilar is now in the Will County Jail charged with armed violence, unlawful use of a weapon by a convicted felon, manufacture and delivery of cannabis, obstructing justice, obstructing a peace officer and unlawful possession of ammunition. Officers tried to stop Aguilar's car near Buell Avenue and Nicholson Street for a traffic violation, police reported. "Officers observed a black bag being thrown from the vehicle near the intersection of Western Avenue and Nicholson Street," police said. Joliet police found the bag Aguilar threw from the vehicle prior to the traffic stop and noted it had a large amount of cannabis, authorities said. "Upon search of Aguilar's vehicle, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun on the floorboard of the vehicle," Sgt. Dwayne English announced.
