EAGAN, MN — Eagan Police Department shared that officers rescued a man from his car as it sank in a nearby pond Monday afternoon. The man suffered a medical emergency at the intersection of Highway 13 and Silver Bell Road, causing his vehicle to accelerate down the wrong side of the highway, down a hill and into a seven-feet-deep holding pond, police said. When officers arrived, they saw the car was sinking quickly and the man was unconscious, police said. Officers removed their duty belts and swam to the car, police said. According to police, the officers were able to unbuckle the man's seatbelt through an open window and brought him to the shoreline, where he regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. "This is the second vehicle water rescue this summer and despite the great risk to themselves, officers have courageously jumped in to save a person's life," Eagan PD shared on Facebook. "A special thanks to Officers Justin Boughton, Sean Farnham (second rescue of the summer), and Joshua Sannes for their heroic efforts and undoubtedly saving of a life." Eagan Police Department, with the help of a good samaritan, also rescued somebody from a sinking car in May.
