Northport To Enforce Golf Cart Traffic Laws Amid Uptick In Calls

NORTHPORT, AL — The Northport Police Department says it will begin stepping up enforcement of golf carts on city streets amid safety concerns and a jump in calls. What's more, the department has received numerous reports of golf carts loaded with too many occupants, golf carts being driven by children under the age of 16 with no adult supervision, and adults drinking alcoholic beverages while driving a golf cart. In order to be "street legal" and able to drive these vehicles on residential streets, NPD pointed out that the vehicles must have certain safety features that golf carts do not have.
