Unity Church of Tidewater to Host Unity & Gratitude Concert Remembrance Event on 9/11 Virginia Beach, VA - September 11, 2021, 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 5580 Shell Road. Virginia Beach, VA, Unity Church of Tidewater will host a Remembrance Ceremony, Field of Flags, Concert and Family Touch-A-Truck event in commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the September 11 Attacks. It is Free and Open to the Public. Reverend Ann Frances and members of the congregation will lead a short Opening Ceremony, Invocation, and moment of Silence to remember and honor the Heroes who sacrificed everything on September 11, 2001. Local jazz legend Liz Barnes and Co. will perform “God Bless America” and “Lift Every Voice and Sing” to be followed by the National Anthem during Presentation of the Colors by the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad Honor Guard. There will also be a performance by Old School Divas who will transport the audience to a bygone era with their Motown Review. Music you know by heart, dance moves and costumes to delight both young and old. The public is invited to help place 2996 miniature flags in Unity Church of Tidewater’s Meditation Garden. One for each life lost that day. The public will also be invited to visit over a dozen First Response Vehicles, including Ambulances, Fire Trucks, Police Cars, Military Trucks, and a variety of specialty response apparatus. There will also be representatives from Virginia Recovery Canines, with team members who responded to the Pentagon immediately after the attacks. Free and open to the public, attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket. Concessions will be available for purchase.
