Description

The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks and Ankrolab Brewing Company are teaming up to create Sawgrass to Sea Ale, a limited-edition beer The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks and Ankrolab Brewing Company have teamed up to create Sawgrass to Sea Ale, a limited-edition beer to benefit the national parks located in Southwest and South Florida: Everglades, Biscayne, and Dry Tortugas National Parks, as well as Collier County’s own Big Cypress National Preserve. Sawgrass to Sea Ale will make its debut on Thursday, October 7, with a launch party at Ankrolab Brewing Company. For every pint of the beer sold during the event – and through the entire lifetime of the kegs – $1 dollar will be donated to The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks. The money raised from Sawgrass to Sea Ale will help to fund programs that connect communities to Florida’s national parks and that help to ensure that Florida remains wild, natural, and – most importantly – accessible. The name Sawgrass to Sea Ale represents the expansive reach of the greater Everglades ecosystem and the many diverse habitats that can be found within. The cherished waters of our state that originate in central Florida must traverse hundreds of miles through the sawgrass prairies – as well as the cypress domes, hardwood hammocks, pinelands, and mangrove marshes – before reaching their final destination of Florida Bay and beyond into the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. In the almost 20 years since it was established, The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks has distributed more than $10 million dollars to these four units of the National Park Service. Within Collier County, The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks funds Big Cypress’ annual youth environmental education program, which provides every 6th grade student in the county with the opportunity to experience firsthand the many habitats, as well as the wildlife and plant life, that are thriving on the Preserve. The Alliance has also provided support for Big Cypress’ python research program; a post-logging forest recovery study; and the rehabilitation of the historical Cal Stone backcountry campsite – as well as many other projects. The party will also feature a special national parks themed trivia session, as well as raffles and other giveaways throughout the evening. Attendance is free, but make sure to RSVP here to be one of the first to taste Sawgrass to Sea Lager. Sawgrass to Sea Lager is only available while supplies last! Founded in 2002, The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks is the official philanthropic partner for Florida’s four national parks: Everglades, Biscayne and Dry Tortugas National Parks, as well as Big Cypress National Preserve. The organization strives to instill in all people an appreciation of Florida’s public lands and natural resources for what they are – the key to the sustainability and prosperity of the state. Through five focused pillars of support, The Alliance’s work enriches the park experience and creates deeper connections between diverse communities and the nature that abounds in their backyards.
