Description

Benefit EP release concert to benefit Warrior Music Foundation. All ticket sales go to their mission of healing vets through music therapy. Join the party on October 17, 2021 at Crooked Run Brewery, Sterling VA to celebrate the release of Amanda Cunningham's debut EP with a concert to raise money for the Warrior Music Foundation's mission to serve active duty military, veterans, and their families by providing a venue for learning, healing, and camaraderie through free music therapy and music lessons. Amanda will be supported by Courtney King, and instrumentally backed by Hit Parade. Amanda Cunningham grew up moving between rural Carroll County and urban Baltimore County, Maryland. As a result there was a lot of diversity in the music she listened to and Amanda now describes her music as “if Mariah Carey and The Chicks had a baby and that baby grew up loving to overshare and sing.” Others have described Amanda’s music as “combining deep, soulful vocals with raw, gritty honesty that allows her listeners to feel effortlessly understood and connected to the voice behind the music” and “the sultry sizzle in her vocalization has us craving the words that she offers up on a silver platter”—BuzzMusic With the emotive, unfiltered singing talent and candid story-telling ability to express both vulnerability and strength, Amanda beautifully shares her struggles with mental health, heartache, working out who she is, and the struggles of young motherhood to listeners to say, “you are not alone, and it’s okay to not be okay sometimes." Her debut EP titled "From the Chair" has taken years of therapy and self improvement to work on and release. The record deals with her coming to terms with her past, being a young mom, and recovering from mental health issues like postpartum depression and anxiety. Listen to her on Spotify here. Amanda will be supported by Courtney King. Courtney describes her style as rock, punk and blues merging with classical, avant-garde and progressive rock. What’s certain is that this singer, songwriter, guitarist and flutist with the siren-like voice has an unforgettable sound that harks back to a classic rock vibe while placing herself distinctly in today’s milieu of empowered women artists. She received her Bachelor of Music from the prestigious DePaul University studying flute, winning an audition for the Air Force Band of Flight in Dayton, OH. She played bugle for a time as well during basic military training and became a member of Band of Flight, playing flute for presidents, foreign dignitaries, civilians, and veterans. The band supporting Amanda Cunningham is Hit Parade. Hit Parade is a high-energy pop-rock cover band playing all of your favorites. All the hits. On parade. To keep your body moving.
