Racing Power Tools! Eating BBQ. Drinking beer & wine. All to raise funds for the Frontier Texas museum in downtown Abilene. This FUNdraiser for Frontier Texas will take place on the museum’s parade grounds (courtyard area) on a custom-built 76-foot long race track. First prize for the Open-Division will get a trophy and the title 2021 Texas State Belt Sander Races Champion. A full BBQ meal, beer and wine will be provided. Racing sponsorships start at $750; individual event tickets are $50 each and must be purchased at least three-days in advance. Race teams provide their own belt sanders (can be provided if needed) and are encouraged to decorate and modify their sanders for speed and style. The final racers may not exceed 12-inches wide by 24-inches long. Competition will be in two categories: Open-Division for all belt sander types and a Stock-Division using only a Harbor Freight Chicago 6.5 Amp 3”x21” belt sander and the winner receives a trophy and bragging rights (see sponsorships page for pricing). A prize is also awarded for "Most Spirited Team" with team costumes a major factor. Betting on winners is encouraged from 6:00-6:45pm with half of the cash going to the winning bets and half going to the museum. So bring some extra cash and you might go home with more.
