An afternoon of baroque music with Sonare Ensemble.
On Sunday, October 10, at 3pm, Concerts at St John’s Episcopal Church presents the early music ensemble Sonare in concert. Utilizing historic performance practices and instruments, this ensemble will explore the theme of the "Stylus Phantasticus," or the "fantastical style," a manner of harmonic and rhetorical virtuosity preferred by many baroque composers. The program will feature music of Rosenmuller, Biber, Schmelzer, Buxtehude, and Muffat performed by Stephanie Noori, violin Rhea Edelman, violin; Ethan Rouse, viola; Jorge Luis Zapata Marin, viola; Miguel Cantú IV, viola; Eric Smith, viola da gamba and cello; and Brad Bennight, harpsichord. Following the free concert, a reception will be held in the parish hall. The church is located at 848 Harter Rd, Dallas.
