1440 Multiversity Mindful Movie Night: The Wisdom of Trauma featuring Dr. Gabor Maté Back by popular demand, Mindful Movie Night at 1440 invites you to learn how to Wonder Well on the 1440 Multiversity campus while nourishing your mind and spirit. Enjoy an inspired evening that begins with live music in the outdoor Redwood Amphitheater before the doors to the Redwood Auditorium open for a thought-providing cinema screening that will leave you feeling inspired to enrich the world. Tonight’s Mindful Movie: The Wisdom of Trauma by Maurizio and Zaya Benazzo In The Wisdom of Trauma, Maurizio and Zaya Benazzo travel alongside physician, bestselling author and Order of Canada recipient Dr. Gabor Maté to explore why our western society is facing such epidemics. “This is a journey with a man who has dedicated his life to understanding the connection between illness, addiction, trauma and society,” the producers said. “Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds. Dr. Maté gives us a new vision: a trauma-informed society in which parents, teachers, physicians, policy makers and legal personnel are not concerned with fixing behaviors, making diagnoses, suppressing symptoms and judging, but seek instead to understand the sources from which troubling behaviors and diseases spring in the wounded human soul.” Add Saturday Supper to your movie for a fully immersive experience, and enjoy dinner at Kitchen Table mindfully prepared by the 1440 Culinary Team before the screening.
