Description

Breakfast and interactive workshop for community partners, and residents of Johnston, North Providence and Smithfield. The Tri-County HEZ program invites you to an in-person, interactive workshop focused on bettering the health and well-being of residents of the towns of Johnston, North Providence and Smithfield, RI which are the three towns served by the Tri-County Health Equity Zone (HEZ). Residents and community partners will enjoy breakfast, a brief introduction of the Tri-County HEZ Team, and will then be invited to visit our interactive displays on topics relating to the social determinants of health, such as food insecurity, housing, access to quality healthcare, safety and education. Attendees will be encouraged to visit displays to leave their thoughts on community need, and how the Tri-County HEZ program can help to address these needs over the next several months. Health Equity means that everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy life, no matter who they are, where they live or how much money they make. Equity is different from equality, which is achieved when everyone has equal resources. Achieving health equity requires understanding of how community needs differ, and investing in the specific resources each community needs to give everyone a fair chance at good health. The "Coffee Talk" workshop will offer residents and community partners the opportunity to tell the Tri-County HEZ program what their needs are, and how we can address those needs. COVID-19 distancing protocols will be in place, and masks are required to attend.
