The Delray Beach Orchid Society (DBOS) is holding it’s 31st annual Orchid Show and Sale, “Orchids on the Square”, Saturday October 23 and Sunday October 24 at Old School Square’s vintage fieldhouse in Delray Beach. Many of Florida’s best orchid growers will be there with their finest orchid plants. These exquisite flowers will be available from 10:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday and 10:00am to 4:00pm on Sunday. Admission is $5 per day. Walking into the fieldhouse will transport the viewer to a place of serenity. The scent of delicious orchids and so many spectacular colors, including the palest lavender to the deepest magenta, lemon yellow to bold orange, pale pinks to brilliant reds and unusual ones – black, green, brown will delight the senses. Available for purchase are orchids from Venezuela, the Philippines, Thailand, Costa Rica, Guatemala and many hybridized by local growers. DBOS, active in the community since 1974, is dedicated to promoting the hobby of orchid growing. Monthly meetings are hosted by the society with guest speakers who are local, national and international authorities on orchid culture and conservation. Hands-on workshops are held throughout the year. Meetings are held at 7:00pm the second Wednesday of each month at Veteran’s Park Adult Recreation Center Building.
