We're hiring a part-time Office Coordinator/part-time Group Dog Walker (although there will be potential on-leash walking available too). Join a team that thinks their job working with the beloved dogs and cats of the East Bay is the best job ever. We walk dogs in Oakland, Berkeley, and Alameda. This is an employee position, with some benefits, starting at $18/hour (DOE), for 30-35 hours per week. We pay for your continuing education and we always have a positive-reinforcement (R+) orientation, both with the pets we take care of and our own team! Office Coordinator/Dog walker Operations: Monday through Friday, in office, TBD depending on group route timing, around 20 hours per week in office Dog walker: Private walks, group walks, puppy play group, and kitty visits (as many hours as you want and we have available) Job Requirements Sense of humor Ability to multitask Attention to detail Enjoy working with animals and animal lovers Be able to work independently and with a team Can ask for help when needed Flexible, can-do attitude Good customer service skills (be diplomatic) Be able to walk dogs for up to 4 hours Be able to lift 50lbs (if a dog needs help getting into a vehicle) Comfortable talking to clients on the phone or via email Able to and have comfort with learning new apps and software systems Willingness to learn and take on new tasks as needed Job Duties --In Office Check voicemail/Google texts/emails Schedule New Client Meetings Respond to new business inquires On-board new clients Off-board exiting clients Answer phone Check delivery boxes for keys, etc., walkers have left Respond to client needs via email Process checks Reach out to walkers about temporary jobs (cat visits, etc) Manage DLPC photos and social media Key management Order supplies Scan and file documents Help maintain Doggy Lama vehicles (take to get cleaned, drop off at mechanic’s) Help care for dogs who are boarding at the office Support marketing efforts List things on Freecycle or Craigslist to be picked up Keep office organized Get trained on other office staff job(s) for back-up --In-Field Fill in for private walkers as needed Bring keys to walkers in an emergency Help with car issues (drive DLPC vehicles to stranded walkers or wait for AAA while they use car to continue their route) Return dogs to clients homes if walker is unable to do so in an emergency Bring supplies to walkers if needed We give priority to folks who have experience or education with positive-reinforcement (R+) training methods. You must have a clean driving record and pass a criminal background check.
