ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following list provides examples of the most typical duties for positions in this job class. Individual positions may not include all the examples listed, nor does the list include all of the work that may be assigned to positions in this job class. - Moves office, conference room, or classroom furniture such as desks, chairs, cabinets, easels bookcases, etc. within rooms and/or across campus and between buildings. - Moves furniture or other office/classroom items in support of the set-up and take down activities for meetings, classroom activities, public events, or conferences. - Furniture deliveries to various locations. - Assists with assembling furniture or other office items. - Pick up excess furniture from classrooms, boardrooms, locker rooms, warehouses, offices and medical locations. - May load and unload supplies/shipments received using a manual lifting and/or pallet jack. - May train employees on safety, moving techniques, and other policies and procedures - Picks up trash and may perform light cleaning duties of the rooms, offices or conference areas. - Performs other related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet the needs of the assigned buildings or areas. - Loading and unloading of trucks. - Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Good client/customer service skills. - Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. - Ability to work effectively with a team. - Ability to work independently as needed to support the group effort. - Basic commercial, industrial safety knowledge is a plus. - Basic knowledge of cleaning products and general cleaning of areas and/or willing to learn. QUALIFICATIONS: - High School Diploma or GED - Six months or more related experience - Valid Driver’s License is a must - Certified forklift operator-desired but not a requirement - English Speaking/Writing required - Spanish speaking a plus - Moving experience a plus - Good communication and interpersonal skills - Good client/customer service skills - Ability to prioritize multiple tasks WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to work varied shift, including weekdays, weekends and holidays. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift. This position requires repetitive lifting of heavy objects, bending and stooping as part of the essential duties of the job.
