Stamford Man Charged In Prescription Drug Fraud Operation: Police

STAMFORD, CT — Fairfield law enforcement recently arrested a Stamford man on numerous drug and fraud charges — a move authorities described as "a culmination of an 18-month-long investigation of a prescription drug operation," according to police. Westly Valentin was arrested about 4 p.m. Sept. 1, according to police, who searched his home in the 100 block of Franklin Street, seizing a large amount of evidence. "Valentin was found to be involved in passing fraudulent prescriptions to illegally obtain controlled substances for personal use and resale," Fairfield police said in a news release. Valentin was previously arrested by Fairfield police in January 2020, after a Bridgeport doctor and Fairfield pharmacies reported fraudulent prescriptions for controlled substances, according to law enforcement. Valentin, 26, is charged with selling drugs, second-degree conspiracy to commit forgery, conspiracy to sell drugs, conspiracy to possess drugs, conspiracy to obtain drugs through fraud, trafficking personal identifying information and three counts of drug possession, police said. "This investigation is still ongoing and the Fairfield Police Department anticipates additional arrests in the future," the news release said. Valentin, who has yet to enter a plea, is free on a $75,000 bond, according to court records, which said his next court date is set for Sept. 23. The Stamford Police Department Narcotics Unit assisted the Fairfield Police Quality of Life Unit in executing the search warrant for Valentin's home.
