NORWALK, CT — This year's Democratic primary in Norwalk features a four-way race for Councilmen (District C) between Tyler Fairbairn, Jenn McMurrer, John Kydes and Jennifer McAllister. Patch asked the candidates to answer questions about their campaigns ahead of the primary which is slated for Tuesday, Sept. 14. Jenn McMurrer, 40, is seeking the Democratic Party nomination for Norwalk Common Council (District C). Occupation: Communication Consultant Family: Ryan, 44, husband Harrison, 9, son Madeline, 5, daughter Experience: Marvin PTA President Family in government: no The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: Quality education and equity for all. I plan to work closely with the BOE to ensure that they have the tools to help our staff and students thrive and while also be conscious of spending. I will also work with other members of the common council and organizations around Norwalk to promote equity for all and affordable programs for all neighbors to enjoy what our beautiful city has to offer. Critical differences between me and my opponents: Communication and transparency are key for me. I will be readily available to listen to any ideas and answer any questions that come up. I also want to represent everyone in our community fairly and honestly. Our neighbors can depend on me to answer all emails, calls, and and any communications and I will regularly reach out to neighbors to hear their concerns to be able to address them. Accomplishments: I have long been involved in the schools and our community as a volunteer. I am serving my third term as PTA President, I have served on PTOC, the School Governance Council, and Norwalk SPEDPAC. I am a volunteer at Person to Person, Lasagna Love, and and Earthplace Nature Center. I have also raised thousands of dollars for my children's school. Other issues: Equitable quality of life for everyone in Norwalk.Education and extracurricular programs for all children.Strong strategy for development in our city.Clean air and energy for all.Transparency and honest communication. What else would you like voters to know about you? When I say I'm going to do something, I follow through 150 percent. I will put my all into this position for the betterment of our community. It would be a privilege to serve my neighbors. I do not take this responsibility lightly, and but I am also not a career politician. I want to make a positive impact while I am needed and then pass the baton to other capable people.
