Description
The Safe Community Coalition has long focused on providing programs and resources to educate and empower youth and families to make responsible choices about their mental and physical health and safety, particularly in this time of great change. And this year is no exception. The Safe Community Coalition kicks off its 27th year with a new theme: Transitions: Moving Forward. The organization's first event will feature local mental health professionals Jennifer Weaver, Mimi Weisberg, and Robyne Davis and will focus on Back to School Anxiety. Recognizing that parents may have even more anxiety this year than in previous years, the panel will address those concerns and offer concrete ways parents and caregivers can help get the school year off to a great start. The program will be held on Tuesday, September 21 at 7 p.m. via Zoom and all are welcome to attend. To join, visit the SCC website for the webinar link: http://mcleanscc.org/. The link will be live just before the start of the webinar. Other upcoming events include a series of programs focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Launch to College programs; ongoing continuing education programs for mental health professionals; programs for both elementary, middle, and high school students and a spring speaker event featuring a well-known author. About the Safe Community Coalition: Celebrating its 27th year, the Safe Community Coalition (SCC) is a group of community volunteers whose mission is to educate and empower youth and families to make responsible choices about their mental and physical health and safety. The SCC's vision is a community where youth learn to make responsible decisions and where they are safe, mentally and physically healthy, and free from alcohol and drug use. The SCC offers programs for youth, parents, and the community in collaboration with other community sectors concerned about our youth: schools, parent/teacher associations, faith organizations, businesses, public safety organizations, the medical community, and civic organizations. The SCC is a tax-exempt non-profit organization that is 100% funded by donations. See http://mcleanscc.org/ for more details on how you can donate and get involved.
