Good Wednesday morning Connecticut, It will be largely dry during the day on Wednesday, and then rain is forecast to fall tonight and into Thursday morning. We may see another inch of rain, which could cause flash flooding concerns due to all the rain we've received recently. Some sporadic thunderstorms are also possible with strong wind gusts. The best chance for storms is between 8 p.m. Wednesday to 2 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service said. Once the storms end Thursday morning, we'll see nothing but sunshine from Thursday afternoon through Sunday. The COVID-19 update following Labor Day weekend in CT There was good, bad and some concerning news released on Tuesday. First, the good news is that the infection rate dropped over the holiday weekend. Over the holiday weekend, 1,612 new cases were confirmed, across 61,032 tests, for a positivity rate of 2.6 percent. The infection rate had consistently been 3 percent or higher for a while now, so it's great to see a drop. The bad news is that the state is once again reporting several COVID-19 cases among students. And the concerning news is that the Mu variant has been found in Connecticut, and it may have "key mutations linked to greater transmissibility and the potential to evade antibodies, according to health officials in Los Angeles.
