HARFORD COUNTY, MD — As students return to Harford County Public Schools on Wednesday, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reminds drivers about the laws around school buses.
"Here's a little refresher for you about when you MUST stop for a school bus," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "Take this graphic to heart, and help us keep our children safe!"
Other than on a highway with a median and at least four lanes, traffic in both directions must stop for a school bus that stops with passengers, according to the sheriff's office.
Drivers who pass a school bus face a $570 fine and a three-point penalty on their license, according to Maryland State Police.
