Description
Singer, front man, vocalist/poet ISO musicians/song writers to help get original poems to music. Vocalist/Poet is also an intermediate drummer with a small drum studio at home. Drums help me learn music while hiding behind my rage as it’s released on my drums. However, the true musician in me is a singer who is super shy about it. But if we can get my poems to the right music, I won’t be able to hold back. I’m always singing to the music that I listen to and it’s been like that my whole life. If everything falls into place, I’d like to record our songs and slowly build up my confidence to get on stage at some point. Critical to this, is the songs being so good that my ego will stomp over my shyness... to get the music out to represent. I’m willing to sing some covers from a play list I have of a couple dozen songs that inspire me to sing, just for us to play some music in the meantime. A few we could start with would likely be: Eyes of a Stranger by the Payolas, Yellow Leadbetter or anything from the Ten album of Pearl Jam, Kitchenware & Candybars by Stone Temple Pilots, Easy (the Faith No More version), and if you’re lucky maybe The Leaving Song by AFI or anything from Layne Staley’s Alice in Chains (if Seattle won’t murder me for it). I think I may be uniquely qualified to sing Layne Staley’s vocals though. I refuse to front a cover band, but if we can make a certain song uniquely on par or better than the original, then we could include that with our originals. My inspirations are Layne Staley, Eddie Vedder, Korn, Deftones, Tool, A Perfect Circle, AFI, Rage Against The Machine, All That Remains, Bad Brains, Sade (yes Sade!) and the list goes on and on. The music I’d love to sing would be a blend of those listed and then some. I hope to have ballad-ish choruses with heavy funky metal/hip-hop/reggae verses, or some combination of such. I hope to inspire the downtrodden to cry and/or fight ("the man" or narcissists). Or maybe just dance like Mike Muir. Or maybe be still and entranced while we guide their soul higher. Please provide samples, or some other way for me to know your style and abilities and who you are, if you’ve got anything. A photo and an excerpt would be the minimum. I understand it will take your faith, trust and a small investment of time to wait to hear me sing. You can see a picture of me on my Instagram @menomadmenosad. The poems there are the few that I choose to share with the world at this point. My best poems are deep under wraps, those may be the ones to put to music, but new words will spill forth undoubtedly. I hope we can dig through my poems until one beckons to be put to music, and to repeat the process until death do us part. I’m in the South Seattle area. Just DM me on Instagram, if you don’t have social media, props, hit me up through the Craigslist email deal then.
