HOUSTON, TX — A shooting at a Houston hotel Tuesday killed two people in what authorities are saying was a murder-suicide, according to the Houston Police Department. Authorities said two people were killed in the lobby of a hotel at 1777 Walker St., which is the address for the Marriott Marquis in downtown Houston. The shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. In a news conference, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner identified the deceased as a white woman in her late 20s and an African American man in his late 30s. The relationship between the two is unknown, but police believe the two knew each other. Their identities were not released. According to Finner, the man walked into the lobby of the hotel, shot the woman and immediately shot himself. There were no other injuries. "We do not think this is a random event," Finner said. "We have reason to believe they had some type of relationship. The investigation will determine exactly what type of relationship." Twitter user @melinajara_ tweeted at 3:48 p.m. from Marriott Marquis that they had heard gunshots in the hotel and that they hid in a storage closet until it was safe to come out. Live in Houston?
