SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Peninsula state Sen. Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park) was appointed Tuesday as the chair of the state legislature's newly-created Subcommittee on the Clean Energy Future.
The subcommittee will discuss options to work towards a goal of achieving a 100 percent clean electrical grid.
The other members of the committee are: Sen. Brian Dahl ( R-Bieber), Sen. Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach), Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) and Senator Henry Stern (D-Los Angeles).
"The health and resilience of Californians and our economy depends on a clean energy future," Becker said. "California has a pressing need to accelerate the expansion of our clean energy supply in order to meet our climate targets."
Becker, who is also the vice chair of the Committee on Climate Change Policies, has made climate action a priority in his legislative portfolio, according to a news release. His bills this year include Senate Bill 68, which would make it easier and less costly for the electrification of homes.
