SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — If you're going to go off-roading, don't do it on city trails! That reminder from the Orange County Sheriff's Department over the weekend after two trucks were found abandoned-looking on the San Juan Capistrano Patriot Hill Trail.
Patriot Hill is a popular city hiking and horseback riding footpath with an amazing ocean view. On Saturday, the two trucks were discovered as stuck, unoccupied and otherwise looking completely abandoned, officials say.
OCSD San Juan Capistrano deputies shared the pictures of the mired vehicles over social media, leaving some readers to wonder how or why two trucks would suffer the same fate.

The first driver called his father to help when he became entrenched in the sandy soil off the path, Hylton says. His father became stuck in the process of dislodging him.
In the meantime, yes, the view from atop the rolling hills of San Juan Capistrano is outstanding for hikers, but not so good for driving as the drivers of this Dodge Ram and Ford F-150 found out.
They not only had to hike down without their rides, Hylton says, but they also had to pay for the tow off of the mountain and a citation to boot.
