ROMEOVILLE, IL — After more than 600 days without a competition, the Romeoville High School Marching Spartans have announced the return of the Spartan Classic, according to a release from the band booster association. 14 marching bands from throughout the state will come to compete and showcase their skills in field show performances. The Spartan Classic will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 25 at Romeoville High School, 100 N. Independence Blvd. Community members are encouraged to attend and support the marching band; it is $10 per person or $25 for a family of four. All proceeds support the marching band program, the association said. The Marching Spartans will present their show, "Matadora," as an exhibition performance. Bands are classified in three class sizes, A, AA and AAA, according to the association. First, second and third place awards are given to each class, and caption awards are given for outstanding percussion auxiliary, visual effect and music. The caption awards are awards that can be used in the school's band program, such as a snare drum, color guard flag bag and more, according to the association.
