NEW HAMPSHIRE— Good afternoon! September 7 is "National Neither Snow Nor Rain Day." This day commemorates the opening of the New York Post Office in 1917, but it's also applicable to today's forecast around New Hampshire. Here the top stories today from around The Granite State: Standoff arrest: Manchester Police arrested two men after an accident Saturday morning that lead to a short standoff with a suspect. Police said officers got a call that a woman had been struck by a vehicle, and people were fighting at the scene. Officers found a man lying in the road with serious injuries. Pedro Nunez, 20, was seen running from the scene. Police took him into custody. Officers received a tip that another suspect, 22-year-old Ayei Akot, was in a home on Exeter Avenue; police arrived and Akot reportedly ran from the address and into a home on Union Street. After a brief standoff, Akot surrendered to police. Electric car in class: Nashua Community College students across multiple disciplines will have an opportunity to learn about electric car software, wiring, and more thanks to a grant from Perkins Integration. The college received a Switch Glider electric car kit, and plans to integrate it into classes for students in automotive programs, as well as computer science, engineering, mechanical design, and physics. Sexual assault indictment: A Concord Gardens man has been formally charged with eight charges of felonious sexual assault. Gregory M. Perkins is accused of repeatedly raping a girl this spring in various locations around the capital region. Family members found "disturbing text messages" between Perkins and the girl on June 11. Police honor citizen: A member of the New Hampshire State Park Patrol was honored last week for his assistance in a July arrest. Michael Hayden, a former corrections officer, helped a Hampton Police Department officer subdue a suspect who was reportedly throwing punches at another man and fighting with the officer.
