PALM DESERT, CA — A man suspected of burglarizing a Palm Desert business last month has been arrested, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced. Kenneth Gene Cook, 45, of Thousand Palms was taken into custody Tuesday evening in connection with an Aug. 31 commercial burglary in the 34000 block of Monterey Avenue. According to the sheriff's department, Cook forced his way into the business and stole several hundred dollars from inside the establishment. Cook was arrested in the 72000 block of Ramon Road in Thousand Palms and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of felony second-degree burglary. He was also booked on suspicion of several misdemeanor charges. It's not clear what led investigators to Cook, who was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail and was due to appear in court Friday.
