9/11 Ceremonies In Doylestown To Mark 20th Anniversary Of Attacks

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Residents in Doylestown will have multiple opportunities Saturday to pay their respects to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The Travis Manion Foundation, a nation veterans service organization based in Doylestown, is set to host a memorial service Saturday at the Doylestown Courthouse, the Bucks County Courier Times reports. The service is scheduled to start at 8:46 a.m. to mark the moment the first hijacked plane hit the North Tower in New York City, the report states. The names of nearly 3,000 people who died on 9/11 will be read aloud, as well as the names of more than 7,000 service members who have been killed since, the report states. That portion of the service is expected to take 12 hours. Residents can also visit Freedom Square, where Bucks County service members who have died since 9/11 will be honored, according to the Bucks County Courier Times. Two booths at Doylestown Arts Fest will also offer opportunities for reflection and remembrance. The Moravian Tile Works booth will help resident make tiles that can be placed on the Freedom Square tile wall, while residents can register for the 9/11 Heroes Run 5K race at the Travis Manion Foundation booth, the report states. The race is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 at Central Bucks West. Holicong Middle School will also host a short memorial service starting at 8:45 a.m. Saturday.
