CHICAGO — A person involved in a police stand off Wednesday after barricading themselves in a hotel room on the 6000 block of North Lincoln Avenue was found dead when a SWAT team breached the door, officials said. Police said the person appeared to die from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. There was a large police presence on the corner of North Lincoln Avenue and North Jersey Avenue as officials responded to what was initially called in as a "hostage barricade" situation, authorities said Wednesday afternoon. A SWAT team was called to the scene at around 2 p.m. after police responded to a 1:10 p.m. call of a man refusing to leave a hotel room on the 6000 block of North Lincoln Avenue. Police ended the standoff around 4:30 p.m. Officials have not specified which hotel the man is barricaded in, but images taken at the scene appeared to show a SWAT team in the parking lot near the Rodeway Inn on the 5900 block of North Lincoln Avenue. WGN reported the man may be connected to a recent murder in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
