Press release from the City of Raleigh: Sep 7, 2021 On Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m., the community is invited to join a discussion on Access to Transportation and Employment Opportunities. The event will be streamed live on Zoom, and attendees may register by going to the Shaw University Center for Racial and Social Justice website(link is external). We are trying something different this time in hopes of gathering more public participation. We have created a short two-question survey(link is external) asking people to give us their thoughts on the biggest issues facing Raleigh in regards to transportation and jobs. Please give us your ideas and we will work to address your concerns in the dialog on Thursday. You must respond by 9 p.m on Wednesday, September 8. Courageous Community Conversations represents a partnership between the City of Raleigh and the Shaw University Center for Racial and Social Justice (CRSJ). Over the next two months, the CRSJ will host a total of four sessions seeking citizen input. These sessions will include the following topics: discrimination, affordable housing, education, access to transportation, employment opportunities, policing, and mental health. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the four listening sessions with be virtual with citizens able to submit questions and thoughts. "The City of Raleigh is thrilled to be partnering with Shaw University and its Center for Racial and Social Justice on this critically important endeavor," said Raleigh Assistant City Manager Evan Raleigh. "I am hopeful that this series of Community Conversations will result in actionable steps that will help make Raleigh a community where all feel welcomed and are in a position to thrive."
