First, today's weather: Heavy rain in the evening and overnight. High: 88 Low: 72. Here are the top stories in Raleigh today: The NC State Fair has announced it's concert lineup for this fall's Homegrown Music Fest. The Music Fest will run for 11 days with two stages at the State Fairgrounds and has a lineup of 105 artists performing. All of the performers have roots in North Carolina making the N.C. State Fair the first fair in the United States to showcase talent exclusively with roots in its own state. The artists represent just about every genre of music and all of the concerts will take place as part of ticketed entry to the fair. (WAVY)The Wake County Sheriff's Office conducted active shooter training at Ligon Magnet Middle School on Tuesday morning. This is the first time they have held this type of preparedness training in over a year. Wake County felt it necessary and urgent following the death of William Chavis Maynard Miller Jr. in Winston-Salem as well as two other incidents involving firearms in schools. All of Wake County's 23 school resource officers participated in the training exercise and the sheriff's office hopes to have two to three of these sessions each year. (abc11) The Raleigh Police Department is also investigating a break-in at the Triangle Shooting Academy; at this time it doesn't appear that anything was taken. (CBS17)An accident involving a pickup truck and an SUV on New Hope Road left several severely injured on Monday evening. It is unclear what caused the wreck, but six individuals including three children were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. One vehicle had one individual. The other held a family of two adults, three children, and the family's three dogs, two of whom passed in the wreck, the other is still missing. The condition of all passengers is unclear at this time. (WRAL)Restaurant owners are struggling to maintain decent ratings, as they receive negative reviews for things beyond their control. Robert Royster who owns four Ruckus Pizza locations says one of the biggest complaints is the time it takes for food to get to customers. Royster says they are short-staffed by about 30 to 40 workers. David Harris, owner of Amedeo's Italian Restaurant says "The public needs to think about that when they come into a place, and be a little more forgiving if it takes a little longer." (abc11) Along with trouble finding staff initially, workplace complaints also quadrupled in August. (abc11) Two major organizations are working to help those in need in Wake County. The Carrying Place held it's 14th Annual 'Race to Home' to raise money to combat homelessness. Last year the race was held virtually and organizers were excited about the turnout as they aimed to raise $35,000. (abc11) The Carolina Peace Center partnered with several organizations to create a hub for donations to be given to Afghan refugees in the area. The former Ace Hardware in Fuquay-Varina is now a warehouse that holds clothes, furniture, cleaning supplies, and other necessities for families arriving in the Triangle. (WNCT9) Both organizations cite greater need, and have ways listed for you to help.
