Description
I'm 37, vaccinated, and have played in bands before; in my 20s I was trying to be a musician, now I am happy to have a hobby of it. I usually practice singing each day. But it isn't that fun alone.
I love pop, rock, and hip hop. I'd love to write songs with other musicians, practice together at least twice a month, and eventually play out, or even busk, but I'm not interested in touring. Willing to do covers too.
Here is a recent sample of a rock song solo performance: https://youtu.be/Nd-cZVStAgU
You: play an instrument, such as keyboards, bass, drums, guitar, etc.
If you can sing too, that'd be great. If not, I have a Voicelive 3 for good-enough harmonies.
I'm perfectly willing to program groovebox/drum machine drums and basslines if needed (I am an expert Korg EMX user), but want to stay away from a loop-based writing workflow. Instead, we should be playing the songs over and over until the structure is concrete.
If you're an expert producer, and can drive your MPC or weapon of choice like a car, then I can get down. As long as collaborative songwriting can take place, I'm into it.
I have material that you may find enjoyable and want to contribute to, but if that doesn't sound fun then we can just hammer out new stuff.
I'm moving to Germantown or Gaithersburg area to work at NIST by April 2022.
Finally, some songs I like:
Tom Petty - Learning to Fly
Miley Cyrus - Party in the USA
Jurassic 5 - Concrete Schoolyard
ROUND TABLE featuring Nino - Groovin' Magic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afXl2o82mmA
Blur - Song 2
The Beatles - She Came in through the Bathroom Window
Gangstarr - Work ---I even 'mixtaped' it with a colleague: https://soundcloud.com/speedlimit/the-work-mixtape
