Parting Stone is a Santa Fe-based start-up that has developed a technology to provide an alternative to cremated remains. Families who choose cremation can now receive stone-like "solidified remains" that can be touched, held, and shared. Parting Stone is a public benefit corporation whose focus is to empower families in grief. We are a group of creatives with a passion for providing meaningful experiences. Position Overview: Production Technicians are responsible for solidifying cremated remains into stone-like forms. As technicians develop experience with the material, equipment, and process, they may take on more complex and refined roles within the production operation. The solidification process is related to ceramic production/general manufacturing. Daily responsibilities include material processing, material handling, use of lab equipment, order tracking, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Production Technicians come in close contact with human and animal remains daily and are responsible for following strict chain-of-custody protocols to ensure the safekeeping of the remains. Production Technicians use an ERP system to help track orders throughout the solidification process. We are prioritizing BIPOC candidates for this position. Qualifications: Strong sense of integrity; Must be comfortable working with human and animal remains; High level of attention to detail and precision; Creative problem solving; Strong communication skills; Ability to work collaboratively with a team; Ability to learn nuanced production methods and equipment; Strong listening skills and emotional intelligence; Comfortable working in a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment; Ability to learn Odoo, Google Drive, Slack, and other applications; Strong sense of situational awareness and ability to recognize and mitigate problems as they arise; Strong sense of self and the ability to identify and vocalize subtle internal feelings of confusion, uncertainty, and anxiety; Not required but helpful: ceramic experience--electric kiln firing, and maintenance, ceramic studio management, glaze and clay formulation, general ceramic skills. Work Environment: This job operates in a lab/production environment in Santa Fe, NM. Production Technicians will comply with company and OSHA standard workplace safety protocols. Physical Demands: Production Technicians are occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. This position requires being on your feet for up to 7 hours per day and will require carrying, balancing, and lifting up to 50lbs alone--or up to 200lbs with assistance. The ability to wear PPE is required. Expected Hours of Work: The position is full-time--Tuesday - Saturday, 11 am - 7 pm. Hours may change due to COVID-19 or company needs.
