Description
Hey, I'm Aurora. I'm looking for an accomplished violinist/violist to play lead in our rock band. Bonus if you play 5-string violin. Double bonus if you play with distortion pedals. We are currently a 3-piece of drums, bass, and rhythm guitar + vocals (me).
Previously, I played with a violinist out of Seattle and our music was featured on NPR, as well as two substantial Seattle stations: KEXP and KISW. (You can check us out here: https://youtu.be/WyyulR9Lv2I) We broke up because of COVID differences. Then I moved to Sedona, grieved the breakup, and put together my current ensemble.
I've always seen violin as the primary instrument of Midnight Daughter. The pairing of my voice and a violin is incredible. Violin will be a primary instrument in this band, not a sideshow or afterthought. :)
I'm not married to a particular genre perspective, though I am drawn to sounds that are darker, intense, raw, rock, alternative, psychedelic, and operatic. This project has been described as "alternative rock" and "acoustic metal." Midnight Daughter has been compared to: Tool, Queen, Kurt Cobain, Eddy Vedder (Pearl Jam), MUSE, VAST, and Alanis Morissette.
What I am looking for in a player is personal resonance, technical skill, creativity & originality, ambition, and the desire to be part of a touring rock band.
You can hear my current ensemble (and more of my previous ensemble) here: https://soundcloud.com/midnightdaughter/fissures
I look forward to hearing from you. I prefer texting over email. :)
