Description

The Friends of the Garden Grove Libraries is a non-profit foundation providing support to the three Garden Grove library branches. Discarded books from the libraries and donations from our patrons are sold in the Friend's bookstore at the Garden Grove Library on Stanford Avenue, with all proceeds going back to the libraries for special programs such as Children's Summer Reading, movie nights, book clubs, etc. We have a constant need for volunteers in the bookstore as well as in the background sorting and shelving incoming books. We are also looking for qualified people to assist with such functions as promotion, silent auctions, special sales, social media, etc. The bookstore is currently open 7 days a week. We try to run three shifts on weekdays - 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, 1:00 to 4:00 pm, and 4:00 to 6:30 pm. We are open from 11:30 to 3:30 on weekends. All of these shifts are dependent on volunteer availability and are not all currently staffed. Volunteers generally commit to one shift ( 3 to 4 hours) per week. Bookstore staff work alone in the store, must be comfortable interacting with the public and able to handle cash transactions with a simple cash register.
