UST performs a variety of services including 24-hour emergency response to fixed facility and transportation incidents; vacuum truck service; underground and above ground storage tank cleaning, installation and removal; excavation of contaminated soils; waste management; waste transportation; and much more. As our business continues to grow in the Columbus and Wilmington, Ohio, areas, UST is seeking qualified candidates to join our team of Field Technicians and CDL Drivers. In the role of a Field Technician, you will perform the fieldwork associated with environmental remediation projects and spill responses to ensure successful completion of the work. In addition, the Field Technician is responsible for the completion of all activities associated with job preparation and post-job cleanup as directed by the Field Supervisor or Crew Leader. The Field Technician ensures all work is performed safely and efficiently. We are also seeking reliable Class A and Class B CDL drivers. Our CDL drivers operate roll-off trucks, vacuum trucks and tankers, dry vans, service trucks and help move heavy equipment to and from project sites. A MVR acceptable to our insurance carrier is required. Experience operating manual transmissions is also required. In this position you will be home every night and driving locally and regionally with 250 miles. Environmental remediation projects are typically scheduled in advance and performed during regular business hours, although Field Technicians may be required to work outside of these hours as operational needs dictate. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Attitude Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Valid driver’s license Willingness to learn Reliable transportation Positive attitude, ability to adapt, improvise and overcome challenges Driving record acceptable to UST’s insurance carrier Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, photo management, typing, etc.) Exceptional customer service skills Ability to write in order to complete work orders, manifests and other required documentation Preferred qualifications* include: HAZWOPER training with eight-hour refresher (OSHA 1910.120) Class A or Class B commercial driver license Experience operating or working around a vacuum truck and heavy equipment (track hoe, skid steer, etc.) Experience or training with incidents involving drums, tote and other bulk containers Respiratory protection training (OSHA 1910.134) Experience leading a team of employees Experience or training with sampling environmental media Experience working with a diverse group of clients Experience with, or willingness to learn, technical report writing Experience or training with petroleum and chemical spill incidents Associate’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety; Environmental Science; Environmental Engineering; or related field First aid, CPR and AED certification *Topics listed in the preferred qualifications may be developed after hiring.
