BRAND NEW AC/DC TRIBUTE BAND SEEKING VOCALIST/BASSIST/DRUMMER
Meets
Coram NY
Description
Angus and Malcolm Young (lead & rhythm guitarists) searching for Bon Scott/Brian Johnson (vocalist), Cliff Williams (bass & backing vocals), and Phil Rudd (drums). Both current guitarists are veterans of the LI music scene who have been involved in other well known AC/DC tributes in the past, and they are looking to recreate the buzz and success that those earlier bands once produced. Just like capturing lightning in a bottle, it has to be a unforgettable live experience for all in attendance. We're hoping to find other like minded musicians that share the same love for the music of AC/DC, who will approach the material with the respect and dedication that it deserves. As of now, the master setlist has yet to be created, but it is being discussed as we speak. We plan on bringing out a live show that has never been seen or done before by playing deep cuts to please the more dedicated fans, as well as fan favorites that appeal to the casual listener. All eras from the band's diverse and lengthy career will be represented in the set. But first and foremost, we as a band would like to learn and perfect what is considered by many die-hard AC/DC fans to be their best album, 1978's powerful and hard hitting masterpiece of rock n' roll, the almighty "Powerage". From the well known sing along chorus of "Rock N' Roll Damnation" to the ferocious guitar work of album closer "Kicked in the Teeth", the album was meant to be played in a live setting. From front to back and beginning to end there isn't a weak song to be found. All killer, zero filler. Singers: We are looking for someone who embodies the wild spirit of Bon Scott and the cocky swagger of Brian Johnson, both vocally and physically. Someone who can command an audience. Stage presence, charisma, and attitude are a must in order to come close to these legendary front men. Singing in key is a given, as well as doing your homework and learning the lyrics and their phrasing. Both vocalists each have their own little nuances and trademarks. Studying and perfecting them wouldn't hurt and would only make the band that much better. Bassists: You must play with a pick! This is very important to the AC/DC sound. 99.9% of AC/DC songs were recorded using this picking style, with the exception of two songs. 1976's "Ride On", which featured Mark Evans on bass. And 1986's "Who Made Who", where Cliff recorded his bass lines using his thumb to attack the strings. In 1991 he started using a pick when playing the song live. His signature style of playing is very percussive. As a bassist you should be familiar with this style of playing. Down picked, palm muted 8th notes, usually on the root note of the chord being played. Cliff has been often criticized as too simple, but in truth he is the heartbeat of AC/DC. Listen to a song like "Shoot to Thrill" and you'll hear he as a lot more tricks up his sleeve, like major and minor bass walks, ghost notes, string skipping, and different note choices within a chord. Backing vocals are also required, but don't need to be perfect. Both Malcolm and Cliff had very tough, gang-like backing vocals and weren't always in key, but if fit the context of the music. Drummers: Be familiar with Phil Rudd's style of playing. It may sound like simple 4/4, but he adds a certain swing to the groove that gives AC/DC their bounce, and is the reason why people bang their heads in approval. He keeps it simple and doesn't have a large kit in comparison to a lot of other drummers. He doesn't use a ride cymbal or double bass drumming. If you have to use double bass in an AC/DC song then something ain't right. Phil is the timekeeper of the band. A human metronome. We need someone who can keep the beat going and give it that swagger and sway. Most importantly we're looking for likeminded die-hard AC/DC fans who love playing the songs, and who can give them the attention and respect they deserve. With the right people on board this band could do incredible things and elevate far beyond a simple tribute band. If you're interested in hopping on the highway to hell with us then send us a message with a little bit about yourself and why you love AC/DC. Let there be rock!!
