Description

Walk to see Del Ray's colorful and historic murals Did you know that there are murals around Del Ray depicting a racehorse, Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin, a frog floating down a river, a dream forest, a stunning sunset, neighborhood pets, and more? Come see bright, fun murals that celebrate Del Ray's history and culture on this free walk organized by the Alexandria Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The route is about 1.2 miles and will go along Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37417707. All are welcome, and we'll wait to regroup if we get separated. We'll meet outside The Garden, at 1503 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria VA 22301. For everyone's health and safety, we'll be taking the following precautions: -- asking everyone to self-screen and not participate if they've experienced symptoms of covid or been exposed to a known covid case within the last 14 days -- asking people who are not fully vaccinated to give others at least 6 feet of space while walking and to wear masks during the stops (and also while walking if they can breathe comfortably while doing so) -- keeping an eye on local covid conditions, and cancelling the walk if needed The Alexandria Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization that promotes walking and biking, and infrastructure and policy changes that create a safe, accessible, and livable city for all. BPAC members are local volunteers who engage hundreds of Alexandria residents and seek solutions to safe walking and biking issues on their behalf.
