Fascination with ancient Egypt was already in an upward swing, and they will discuss in particular the excavation of Amarna, the capital city of Akhenaten, Tutankhamun's father, and how fashion and advertising drew from these exciting developments even before 1922. Alongside the 1920s clothing from the Darnell Collection now currently on display as part of the new Weston HIstorical Society exhibit, their lecture will feature other spectacular examples of Egyptomania designs in clothing and jewelry. This lecture is in connection with the society's 1920s exhibit, “Weston Slept While the Nation Roared: Life in the Twenties” which is open to the public every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 1pm – 4pm at 104 Weston Road in Weston, CT.
