Description
An insurance inspector conducts surveys for homeowner's insurance policies. This requires photographing dwellings and properties and identifying and notating building components (exterior siding, foundation type, roof cover, attached and detached structures, etc), hazards, and potential liabilities. Inspector will make their own schedule while respecting due dates of the inspections/orders. Turn around times range from 5 days to 21 days. Renewal orders allow 45 day turn around times.
The volume is about 40-50 jobs per week on average. This is 2-3 days of work per week. There are also opportunities to travel and complete out-of-town work as an option for more work and higher payout.
Out-of-town work and general volume is not guaranteed however, the volume has been consistently increasing.
Responsibilities:
-Organize routes based on locations and due dates
-Travel is around 100-300 miles per work day
-Upload data obtained in the field
-Identify hazards, liabilities, and building components
-Occasionally sketch the exterior of a dwelling using a measuring wheel to verify square footage
-Make appointments for inspections located in gated communities/driveways and other special circumstances
-Communicate with clients, management, and agents regarding the status of orders and appointments
Requirements and equipment:
-Self-motivated
-Ability to work with no supervision
-Valid Drivers License
-Pass a background check
-Pass a drug test
-Reliable, fuel efficient vehicle with valid insurance and AWD capability
-Digital camera with GPS/Geotagging
-Smart phone with data plan
-Internet
-Computer
-Printer
-Camera pole
-Measuring wheel
-Experience in inspections/surveys or a similar industry
-Must live within an hour of the covered areas
-Must provide a resume and professional references
