Description

Please join the Utah SAMPE Chapter to learn more about how major end markets served by the composites industry have evolved. Utah SAMPE Chapter Presents Composites M&P: Today and Tomorrow by Jeff Sloan of Composites World For more than five decades, composites manufacturing has effectively leveraged its perceived weakness — anisotropy — into a strength as a highly engineered material that can provide unprecedented strength properties at a fraction of the weight of legacy materials. And as composites evolved in high-quality/low-volume end markets, manual and semi-manual processes dominated and were deemed acceptable. Over the next decade, however, as new markets and applications expand, composites suppliers and fabricators are going to be asked, increasingly, to provide high quality at high volume, taking the industry into new M&P territory. This presentation will look at how major end markets served by the composites industry have evolved over the last several years and provide an outlook for how they can change to meet high-quality/high-volume requirements.
