Our Team is currently searching for a knowledgeable safety-oriented diesel mechanic/shop helper. In this role, the successful candidate will perform maintenance and repairs on heavy duty vehicles, such as tractors, trailers, and forklifts. The candidate must have verifiable diesel mechanic experience. Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to Complete Work Orders from sales teams to make sure trucks are DOT ready and ready for customer pickup. Perform occasional service work including oil changes, changing batteries, brake jobs and minor repairs. Help with shipping orders and warehouse work. Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts. Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures. Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems. Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems. Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards. Weld certain components of vehicles. Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications. Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Must have minimum tool requirement All employees are required to go through a background check; Motor Vehicle Records, Criminal and Drug Test Ability to move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles. Ability to work outside in various weather conditions. CDL is a plus, but not required Occasional lawn maintenance as needed Driving loads of parts and part pick ups Job Type: Full-time
